Hello everybody,
Jan 22, 2010

Hope all is well with all of you. Sorry to wait so long between emails but
I was waiting for some news to share with you. I will do the best I can to
update you.

I also hope your excitement is building as much as mine, as we
prepare to go to Mexico. We still do not have permission to bring medicine
into Mexico despite all the connections we made including the Mexican
Ambassador. I will continue to be in contact with the Mayor of Jitotol and
the Ambassador in hopes that things change. In the meantime Dr Kellerman and
Melissa Rousseau have put an order together and Dr Kellerman has been in
touch with a doctor in Mexico and we plan on ordering through him. The cost
of medicine might be a little more.

The baggage problem has not changed: ONE bag per person. What we
will have to do is pay for all the extra baggage. We need to make several
changes from the way that we usually travel. I would ask each of you to do
several things, those of you on construction to bring your own tools such as
a trowel, gloves, hardhat, etc. If you don't have a hardhat we will provide
it, but you must leave room in your luggage for it. Those of you on the
medical team please pack your own scrubs and any other of your needs. If you
plan on using the electric outlets in your room please bring a 3-prong
adapter with you. Here is the hard part. If you can, please pack only 40lbs
in your bag and it will help us if we can put a few extra things in your
bag. I can see some of your faces now. I know all of you can't do it but if
you can please do so. Do not pack trowels or any other type of tools in your
carry on. Some bags we will have to bring such as VBS stuff, larger tools,
drills, eyeglasses, etc. So the cost of our trip will rise, seems like no
end.

As for as our budget, it has changes because of the above
problems. The Bibles and literature have been taken care of now. I have some
money donated to Pastor Rigo's Trip. As I told you in the Dec email, we
needed approx 25-26,000 dollars to make this work. As of the end of the year
we need approx. 7,000 more, Thanks to one large donation and many smaller
ones we are doing real well. Still there's more to raise. I hope you can
help. Thank you all for making these mission trips possible each year. Your
donations have helped to touch thousands of lives over the years.

By the end of the month all those traveling with us must be paid
up to date. If you have any questions about tools needed or baggage problems
please contact Eric by phone 413-822-0254 or by email -
mail at berkshiremission.org. If you need scrubs or tools we have extra at the
church, but make sure you leave room for them.

Remember several things I reminded you of in the past. Eric has
a power point program if you need it for fundraising. Everyone traveling
with the main group must be at the church by 4pm on Feb15. We must be at
the airport at least 3hrs before takeoff. Because of the luggage problem, I
expect all of you to be on time. We will have plenty of food to eat before
we depart. Due to changes in airline security, do not bring any food or
water in your carry-on luggage. Make sure your shots are up to date. Bring
your passport, plenty of your own meds and bring a happy face, plenty of
courage and as my wife has always quoted in her emails P.U.S.H "Pray until
something happens"

God bless you all. Can't wait to be with you all!

Sincerely

Bob Young

Mission Director
