Hello Everybody Aug 31, 2009
We have been receiving a lot of calls asking what we are doing for a
mission trip next year. Sorry it has taken so long to get some information
out. We have been looking at a couple of projects and waiting for a few
things from Maranatha before we announce where we are going. There had been
a project in Honduras very close to where we built our first church in
Yusguare. The project would have been to build a school in Choleteca. Some
of you who had been on the first trip may remember a visit to the existing
school that is there now, they have outgrown that building and are in need o
a bigger building with a lot more classrooms. We have been waiting for
Maranatha to make a decision on weather to proceed with the project in light
of the presidential problems and with the elections coming up in November.
Maranatha went back in forth on deciding I they should go forward and they
told us last week that they are not going to take a chance in case there are
problems during the elections.
The other project that we have decided on will be a church in the
southern part of Mexico. This building will be a little different; it is
called a one day church. The steel and the roof will go up in one day. We
will also be putting up the walls, windows and doors on this project also.
So the name one day church really doesn't apply. The construction team will
have lots of work. During our pretrip visit we will be setting up sites for
the medical team to work and a place for the evangelism team to use.
The project will be in the middle of Feb for two weeks. The exact
dates will be determined once we get info back from the airlines and get
together with Maranatha. The exact site location has not been determined yet
but it will be the Chiapas region south of Villahermosa in Southern Mexico.
A couple of the sites are located near Palenque. Maranatha is still setting
there schedule so that they don't back track across the country to meet with
groups like ours. We should know by the end of September.
Until we know the exact location and we can get down there to make
arrangements for travel and housing we will not be able to give you an exact
price but we will guess between 1400.00 and 1600.00. For those that travel
with the main group. If you don't travel with the group your price will be
different.
We have been getting a lot of calls about this years mission trip so
if you have any interest at all please let us know right away and we will
put your name on our interest list. We need people with all kinds of skills.
Block layers, concrete workers, Doctors, Nurses, Dentist, Construction
workers and people who just want to help, along with VBS and Evangelism
people. If you are ready to make a decision I will get the application and
deposit info out to you asap to lock in your place. We will not hold your
deposit if you decide to back out, once we have all the info to set the
final price and lock in the dates. Send me an email at
mail at berkshiremission.org and let me know your thoughts.
