Hello Everyone
I pray that your holidays are going well. We have many of our
friends celebrating several different holidays this time of the year. I am
writing this the day after Christmas after eating almost everything known to
man or woman.
I would like to let you know several things that are going on.
First I am really excited about this trip coming up in just 40 days. I hope
you all are ready for this exciting time to serve, to receive, and to enjoy.
First still looking for a fund raising sources to keep up with
our plans and provide a monthly type of income for Berkshire Mission so that
I am not so stressed this time of the year trying to raise 25-26,000 dollars
in just a few months. The donations are coming in very slow right now. I
know some of you are saying have faith, and I do, but I also must be
responsible. I hope that those of you who are holding out to the last minute
now's the time. In the past 10 years you have not failed me yet. You will
hear some of the problems we are facing as I go along so you will know my
concern.
The airline that we are taking has posted on the internet that
they are limiting all passengers to one 50lb bag and one carry on. Those of
you who know, we need at least 2 bags each and one carry on for all the
meds, supplies, tools, VBS equipment etc. We are in touch with Mexicana
Airlines to solve this problem. They want to charge us 150.00 per bag over
the amount allowed.
We are finding out that getting medicine into Mexico is almost
if not impossible to get thru customs. We have been working on several
fronts. First trying to buy meds directly in Mexico, that could cost much
more then what we buy in the states, Not sure yet. Also working with the
Mayor of Jitotol to get all the proper paper work in place, 2 problems
there, He is very slow at working on this and we are not sure it will work
when done. As I said earlier, Dr Roy is working with a Doctor in Mexico on
pricing and possibly purchasing medicine in country. I have also left
several messages with the Ambassador Consulate of Guatemala who met Jennifer
and I in Guatemala and said she has contacts at the Embassy if we ever have
a problem in Latin American Countries. No response as of yet. I believe the
Devil senses something is going to happen and is trying to close all the
doors possible. I listed all the problems for one large reason. I need your
prayers. Please ask God to bind the power of Satan as we move through these
problems. We serve a God much bigger than those problems and for sure He has
more power then Satan ever thought of having.
Finally as I mentioned earlier I need your financial support
more than ever. Money for the Bibles has been coming in; we still need
someone to help support Pastor Rigo Dawkins for our evangelism program, cash
for medicine, cash for the children's program, and help with transportation
cost at the sight. Maranatha will need 10,400 dollars for the construction
cost of the church.
Eric sent out the last email to remind you of several things,
first he has a power point program that you can use to help raise funds. You
can use this program at a church, Lyons club, Kiwanis club, your work or any
other place that might be interested. Also by the end of the month all of
you need to have your 4th payment in ($1000.00) ff you are following the
payment plan.
Remember to check with your travel clinic about the shots or
meds you might need, you will have to have an up to date tetanus shot. If
you have a Typhoid vaccine and have been traveling in and out of the country
it is recommended to have a booster shot every 2 years. Hepatitis A and B is
something that you should consider also. Hep B especially if you are working
with the medical team. Again I would ask you to check with your local
physician and or travel clinic to be sure of all that is recommended.
Those of you who did not attend the meeting will be receiving
shortly a packet with some info, also a t-shirt and a DVD recorded at the
meeting. Please wear your t-shirt when you travel to Mexico.
We are going to have a great time on this trip and I am looking
forward to working with you all. We have several new people coming with us
who are now part of Berkshire Mission and we want to make them very
comfortable. I will keep you posted on all the above problems or should I
say challenges. God bless you all, keep in touch with any and all questions.
Love you all
Bob Young
Mission Director
